The frozen sea. When the Black Sea was freezing Why is the cold sea dreaming

Ice sheet in the Black Sea is often formed only on the northern shores, and then in relatively severe winters. Ice usually does not appear on the Caucasian and Anatolian coasts. Almost every year, the Dnieper-Bug and Dniester estuaries, lakes near the Danube delta and on the north-western coast freeze. In very cold winters, the Danube River is held down by ice and, in some cases, by the coastal strip of the sea. During the period of ice drift, the current carries the ice to the south to the Bulgarian shores; usually they reach Cape Kaliakra, and in rare cases they descend to the south. In extremely severe winters, when the sea freezes off the Bulgarian coast, broken ice carries even to the Bosphorus and Eregli.

On the Crimean coast, ice usually forms up to Cape Tarkhankut, and broken ice reaches Yevpatoria. Ice removed from the Sea of Azov often appears near the Kerch Strait and reaches Anapa in the east, and Feodosia in the west.

The first information about freeze-ups in the Black Sea is given by Herodotus; he mentions that the Cimmerian Bosphorus (Kerch Strait) and Meotida (Sea of Azov) are often covered with a fairly thick layer of ice, which, breaking in spring, is carried to the Pontus (Black Sea). The Roman poet Ovid, exiled to Little Scythia (Dobrudzha), writes that from 7 to 17, during three winters, the Danube and coastal sea waters froze over a considerable length. Frequent freezing conditions on the Danube are reported by Nolian (3rd century). Significant freezing of the Black Sea observed in 401, Amianus Marcellin writes that almost the entire sea was frozen, in the spring ice fields filled the Bosphorus, and from it they went to the Sea of Marmara and swam there for about a month. Byzantine sources mention the freezing of the Bosphorus in 739, 753 and 755. In 755, ice formed in the Sea of Marmara and clogged the Dardanelles.

The most intense ice formation, in 762, is reported by the patriarch Nikifor and the chronicler Codrin: about 100 miles from land, the Black Sea froze over, even in the Anatolian coast. From Messembriya (Nessebar) it was possible to walk along the ice to the Caucasian coast.

Freezing up in the Bosphorus was noted in 928 and 934. In 1011, not only the Bosphorus froze, but also part of the Sea of Marmara. At the same time, great cold weather began in Syria and Egypt, ice appeared in the lower reaches of the Nile River. The northern part of the Black Sea froze over, according to the testimony of Prince Gleb Svyatoslavich, in 1068.

Ice appeared near the southern shores of the Black Sea and in the Bosphorus and in 1232, 1621, 1669 and 1755. In 1813, the Black Sea was covered with ice from the northern shores to the southern regions of the Crimea. The Bosphorus froze in 1823, 1849 and 1862.

In 1929, 1942 and 1954. ice formed almost along the entire Bulgarian coast, at the same time the ice penetrated into the Bosphorus. Freezing up in the northwestern part of the Black Sea and in the Sea of Azov and a strong ice drift on the Danube in 1972 caused the appearance of ice fields near the Bulgarian coast even south of Cape Kaliakra. But sustained winds from land carried them to the open sea.

The appearance of ice and sludge in the shallow parts of the bays on the Bulgarian coast was also observed in other years. Lakes located near the sea coast freeze more often.

Ice formed from sea water contains less salt than water. When sea ice forms, small drops of sea water (brine) are trapped between ice crystals of pure water. Over time, the brine ste

ice falls down, the ice is desalinated, and air bubbles appear in it, creating its porosity.

Fresh water freezes at 0 ° C, salty water at lower temperatures. In the oceans, water freezes at temperatures from -1.9 to -2 ° C, in the Black Sea - at a temperature of -0.9 ° C, but only in calm weather. With strong waves in the water, ice crystals are formed - ice porridge, while the water temperature can be about -1.1 or -1.2 ° C.

The salinity of the lower part of the ice immersed in water is higher than that of the upper one, even for freshwater ice that is in the sea, the lower part is saturated with seawater.

The salinity of the upper layers of sea ice is negligible. As ice ages, its chemical composition changes - the amount of chlorides decreases and the amount of bicarbonates increases.

In general, the ice sheet contains significantly less salt than seawater.

Among the southern and western Slavs, Mora is a demon that strangles and torments a sleeping person, leaning on his chest at night.

Poles and Kashubians believe that if six or seven daughters are born in a family in a row, the latter becomes Mora.

According to Czech beliefs, Moroi is children born with teeth, and according to Serbian and Croatian beliefs, children born in a "shirt", usually bloody or blue.

Serbs believe that Mora is a girl born in a bloody shirt, who was burned by a midwife in a fire.

Serbs and Croats also believe that Mora is the daughter of Veshtitsa, and that Mora is the child conceived by a woman on a holiday or during her period.

According to Polish beliefs, the girl from whom Mora is derived has two souls - good and evil, while the evil soul flies out of the sleeping Mora's body and harms people, but Mora herself does not suspect anything.

The demonic properties of Mora are manifested at night, and the rest of the time she is no different from those around her.

Western Slavs believe that Mora strangles people against their will when their time comes.

According to Bulgarian and Polish beliefs, Mora are the souls of people who died without confession, buried in violation of the funeral ritual, as well as children of unbaptized or incorrectly baptized babies.

The Poles, Czechs and Lusatians also know the beliefs about the Mora men.

The Poles believe that Mora is invisible or looks like an indistinct human shadow, she has a transparent body, she is thin, bony, she has abnormally long legs, arms, nails.

According to Serbian beliefs, Mora can take the form of a moth or a mosquito, as well as animals associated with the other world: a bat, a cat, a mouse.

Mora climbs onto the sleeping man's chest, presses and torments him, drinks his blood, and sucks milk from the breasts of women.

According to some beliefs, there are several varieties of Pestilence: one sucks and strangles people, the other sucks the sap of trees, the third - vegetables and weeds.

Mora's victim turns pale, withers and soon dies.

Mora can enter a room through any, even the smallest, hole, including through a keyhole.

Poles and Kashubians believe that Mora moves in a sieve, on a broom, a wheel from a wheelbarrow, a reel, a spinning wheel (cf.

Spinning wheel) or in a trolley with one wheel.

As amulets from Mora, a knife, a needle stuck into clothes, an ax or other iron object, garlic, a belt that is placed on top of a blanket, bread, and a mirror are used.

To stop visiting Mora, you need to recognize her.

For this, the person who is being strangled by Mora must tell her: "Come in the morning, I will give you bread and salt."

The first woman to come in the morning will be Mora.

She needs to be given the promised, after which she will no longer come to this house.

You can get rid of Mora by catching the animal she turned into and maiming it.

A newborn with teeth was given a piece of wood in his mouth so that the harmfulness of the child would pass on to it.

Mora comes from double-minded people.

The Polish pestilence strangles sleeping people.

The Croats crossed the mora with their fig three times, after spitting on it, which tormented the child.

Many people often dream about the sea.

Such dreams are often filled with many details, bright colors and leave behind a storm of emotions in the soul of the sleeper.

  • is the sleeping man or woman?

Seeing the sea with clean or dirty water in a dream

A dream about the sea with dirty water promises the dreamer:

  • squabbles and gossip behind his back;
  • quarrels with people from the immediate environment;
  • unpleasant conversations;
  • illness;
  • loss of a considerable amount of money;
  • accusations and threats towards the sleeper.

If in a dream the wind raises muddy, dirty waves, then the dreamer should be more careful with colleagues at work. This means that one of them is plotting meanness towards him, and is ready to stab him in the back at the first opportunity.

The dream of a clear sea is usually interpreted as positive.

But swimming in a dream in a dirty but calm sea, on the contrary, is a very good sign. Such a dream is predicted to receive unexpected monetary profit. For people who have their own business, a dream promises its rapid development, the conclusion of a profitable deal.

For a woman, a dream in which she swims in dirty sea water suggests that pregnancy awaits her.

The dream of a clear sea is usually interpreted as positive, bearing the dreamer:

  • appeasement;
  • peace of mind;
  • well-being in life;
  • full understanding on the part of the family.

Sailing in the sea with clear, turquoise water is a great success in real life.

Why dream of a raging sea

To dream of a raging sea, especially if the water in it is dirty, threatens:

  • family quarrels;
  • serious disagreements with relatives;
  • sorrows and anxieties;
  • loss of friends;
  • monetary or property losses;
  • bad luck in business;
  • danger to health and even life.

But if it stopped raging, then all conflicts will soon be resolved, and in favor of the sleeper. If the sea storm in a dream intensifies, then the sleeping person is in danger of a serious quarrel with his soul mate, which may even end in a break in relations.

This vision can reflect a person's inner excitement about an important event.

Still, such a dream can be interpreted as a warning that it is worth taking a closer look at the people around you. Some of them harbored a grudge against the sleeper and are waiting for an opportunity to strike.

This vision can reflect the inner worries of a person about some important event in the dreamer's life. His worries about the correctness of the choice that stands in front of him.

  • A dream in which the dreamer enters a raging sea promises a night of love filled with passion and euphoria.
  • Falling there in a dream is worth the wait for health problems.
  • For girls, such a dream brings problems with a loved one, and, possibly, his loss. But if the sea is calm after the storm, then there is a high probability of meeting a new love.

Dreaming about a storm at sea for a guy means that he has been in sexual tension for a long time, and this makes him overly aggressive.

Why dream of a frozen or dried sea

A dream about a frozen or dry sea predicts a not very good situation in the dreamer's personal relationships.

Dried water, like water covered with ice, promises the dreamer problems with his beloved:

  • a pause in a relationship;
  • a serious quarrel;
  • a break up.

A dream about a frozen or dry sea predicts a not very good situation in the dreamer's personal relationships

It can also predict stagnation at work for the sleeper, lack of money and career growth.

The parched sea for people who have their own business predicts a stop in development, a delay in cash payments, and non-repayment of debt obligations.

Calm, warm or cold sea in a dream

Seeing a cold sea in a dream is a sign that the relationship of the sleeping person with his soul mate has exhausted itself. For a married woman, such a dream means that the cold in the relationship will soon lead to misunderstanding of the spouse, great disappointment in him and a possible breakup.

Seeing warm is a positive sign. This means that fate prepares the sleeping man:

  • good luck in all matters related to work;
  • career growth;
  • attention and care from a loved one.

A dream in which there is a calm sea surface can be interpreted in two ways. Such a dream can speak of the boring life of a sleeping person, in which it is time to change something. For man himself is dissatisfied with his existence. Or, a dream may warn of an impending storm, which brought discord, quarrels and nervousness to the sleeping person's life.

A dream in which there is a calm sea surface can be interpreted in two ways

Looking at the calm blue sea from a distance speaks of a person's search for calmness and silence, which he so lacks in real life.

Swim in a calm sea prophesies:

  • changes for the better in life;
  • if the sleeping person is sick, then a quick full recovery;
  • unexpected cash receipts.

The sea in Miller's dream book

The dream book of philosopher Miller interprets the image of the sea seen in a dream ambiguously:

  • as the unfulfilled hopes of a person in real life;
  • the physical attraction that the sleeper experiences.

He says that a person needs spiritual satisfaction or that he, at this period of his life, is very lonely.

Miller interprets the sound of the waves of the sea as a loss of the meaning of life in sleeping people, disappointment in the people around him, in relationships. And you should urgently decide on radical changes, so as not to finally get bogged down in despondency and melancholy.

For a girl floating in a dream on a calm blue sea, Miller prophesies:

  • fulfillment of the innermost desires;
  • long and happy life;
  • promising acquaintance.

To see the sea from afar according to Miller's dream book is to dream of an unforgettable night, love pleasures, affection.

Why is the sea dreaming (video)

Dreams tell about the future and give a person hints on how to get around certain obstacles prepared for him by fate. The image of the sea in dreams reflects subconscious outbursts of human emotions. Therefore, people who dream of the sea should listen more carefully to their inner "I", pay attention to all the details of the dream, then it will be possible to avoid quarrels, conflicts and unpleasant situations and live in harmony with oneself.

Attention, only TODAY!

As a rule, the Black Sea does not freeze in winter. But it happens that winter temperatures drop so low that the sea near the coast in the northwestern part freezes for a short time. The Black Sea climate is mainly continental.

The Atlantic Ocean has a significant influence on the weather over the Black Sea, over which most of the cyclones originate, bringing bad weather and storms to the sea.

Sea water is a natural aqueous solution of various salts, in which the main mass is sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, chlorine, sulfur ions, and also contains suspended solids, dissolved gases, and some organic compounds.

The presence of dissolved salts in seawater affects the freezing point of water. Sea water, which has an average salinity for the oceans (3.5%), freezes at -1.9 degrees Celsius. So let's note - the waters of the Black Sea, as a rule, are not subject to freezing.

But in history there are cases when the Black Sea froze over.

Let's consider them:
The first information about an unusually harsh winter and the fact that the Black Sea was partially frozen are found in the letters of Ovid, a poet of ancient times, exiled at the beginning of the 1st century BC. e. in the lower reaches of the Danube. He writes: "... Istria (Danube) became three times from the cold, and the sea wave hardened three times."
From other, later reports of unusual cold weather in the Black Sea region, we learn a lot of interesting things:

-Winter 400-401 g... “... for 20 days the straits of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles and most of the Black Sea were frozen. In the spring ice went mountains in the streets of Constantinople for 30 days. "

-In winter 557-558"... the Black Sea was covered with ice over a large area."

Byzantine, Arab and Western European chronicles indicate that in 763-764 y.“… Winter is fierce. From the beginning of October, there was a great severe cold not only in our land (Byzantium), but also in the east, north, west, so that the northern part of the Pontic (Black) Sea, 100 miles from the coast, turned to stone ... And the same happened from Zikhia ( Taman Peninsula) to the Danube, from the Kufis River (Kuban) to the Dniester and the Dnieper, from all other banks to the Media. When the snow fell on such a thick ice, its thickness increased even more, and the sea took the form of land. And they walked along it like dry land from Crimea to Thrace and from Constantinople to Skutari. " In February, the ice split into pieces, like great mountains. There were so many crystal blocks rushing from the Black Sea that they formed a huge ice bridge in the Bosphorus.

The winter was extremely strong 1233-34... A number of authors confirm that the northern part of the Black Sea has frozen over.

Winter 1543-44 was extremely cold for many European countries - Germany, France, the countries of the Northern Black Sea region. The North of the Black Sea was covered with ice.

According to the information of the South Russian Chronicle, and in Russia "there were great snows and the winter was heavy with frosts, from which the Swedes died a lot", the northern part of the Black Sea froze.

- "Great" is called winter 1788-89 In the Crimea, frosts reached -25 degrees, in the Northern Black Sea region "the winter is severe, full of frosts, they crawled out of the huts through the roofs because of the great snows", the northern part of the Black Sea froze. It was in this winter on December 6, in the bitter frost, that the Russian army stormed the fortress of Ochakov.

Winter 1953-54... is rightfully called "the winter of the century". On the southern coast of Crimea, frosts persisted for three months in a row, the average monthly temperature in February was 10-12 degrees below normal, in Yalta, the height of the snow cover during this period exceeded 30 centimeters. The Sea of Azov was completely frozen, a stable road connection was opened through the Kerch Strait, the northern part of the Black Sea was frozen.

So, over the past 2 thousand years, more than 20 "strong" winters have been recorded in the Black Sea region. The time interval between them is on average 75 years (in most cases from 60 to 90 years).

The dream book claims that night dreams of the sea testify: a time comes in a person's life when he depends not only on his own strengths, but also on other circumstances. Interpretations are also based on the plots of the vision, on the image of the element itself: affectionate or formidable. But all astrologers agree on one thing: a dream about the sea is an important warning.

There is a version that our expectations and dreams were embodied in dreams of sea beauties: the quiet surface of the water leads to wonderful changes in life, and the raging waves - to trouble. Such stereotypes have been created for centuries, because people have always not only respected this element, but also feared, trying to appease the sea gods. Times have changed, but the attitude towards visions has remained. Dream Interpretations give several explanations for what the sea dreamed of, in which the water is clean and transparent:

  • to the realization of aspirations and desires;
  • to the successful resolution of problems;
  • to a stable and calm life;
  • to perfect relationships with loved ones;
  • to the need to reassess values.

Some fortunetellers see in the calm sea and disturbing notes for the dreamer, such as:

  1. Alienation in relationships. If in the near future it is possible to refrain from quarrels, then the cooling itself will come to naught.
  2. The solution of important issues can be stalled, calm at sea is associated with stagnation in business.
  3. It's time to think about reassessing values, not to banish sad thoughts, but to analyze them.

Why is the dirty sea dreaming?

Seeing dirty water in a dream is considered a bad sign, the same applies to sea water. A muddy sea in a dream is a signal of a possible quarrel with friends, relatives or colleagues. Some dream books advise you to prepare for the dangers that may lie in wait in reality. Astrologers give several interpretations of such a dream:

  • being in the water is a warning about gossip around you;
  • to see a calm, dirty sea from the side - to witness unpleasant events;
  • watch big turbid waves - problems will directly affect the dreamer.

Why is the blue sea dreaming?

The most beautiful and pleasant dream - azure to the very horizon, gentle sun and surf. Why is the blue sea dreaming? It has long been known that calm, blue sea water personified a rich catch for our ancestors - for good. Today it is associated with the best summer experience. Therefore, the interpretation of the dream is very rosy:

  • to a pleasant, long-awaited meeting;
  • to wonderful surprises;
  • to the acquisition of spiritual harmony;
  • to a quiet period in life.

If small waves are visible on the surface of the water, this speaks of creative inspiration, to see a light storm of the blue sea in a dream is an explosion of pleasant emotions. And to see fish in the sea is a wish fulfillment. According to the dream book, the sea has other interpretations, less pleasant, which depend on the actions of the dreamer:

  • to see the blue sea from a boat, far from the coast - a warning against erroneous decisions;
  • I can't get to land - soon the help of friends will be needed;
  • if they accidentally fell into a calm, blue sea, they can call the authorities.

Why is the green sea dreaming?

The shade of sea water plays an important role, some dream of emerald waves. What does it mean to see a sea of green in a dream? For some reason, most dream books mark an unpleasant sign:

  • health problems may arise;
  • unpleasant events are coming when you have to defend your point of view;
  • wandering in the greenish waves of the surf - hopes will not come true, but bad consequences can be avoided;
  • quarrels with relatives are not excluded in the near future;
  • for business people - money problems in business.

Why is the cold sea dreaming

But if you suddenly saw the icy waters of Antarctica, it's time to be on your guard. Everything related to the cold is always not very positively interpreted by astrologers, and such a dream is no exception. Why is the frozen sea dreaming? The stars say that the sea, covered with ice, confirms the impossibility of strong desires. If the ice binds the surface only near the coast, some of the plans will come true. As for the dreamer's actions:

  1. To face an iceberg - expect unpleasant news about your loved one.
  2. Dive under the ice - you will have to risk yourself for the sake of your relatives;
  3. Walking on the frozen sea - soon you will be in the spotlight;
  4. Seeing how the ice breaks on the sea - you will become the cause of the collapse of someone's plans.

It so happens that the dreamer is faced with a cold sea, without ice. If he dared to swim in this, he would be able to overcome the fear of obstacles. The water is clean - the obstacles will be small, if it is cloudy and dirty - it may not be up to the mark. When you dream of a morning beach with still cold sea water, this suggests that a situation will soon develop when subordination in a relationship will come first.

Why dream of a vacation at sea?

  2. If you dream of a family vacation, you will soon have to take care of your loved ones.
  3. If on vacation there is a warm sun, clear water and a soft breeze on the beach, then you can safely count on complete well-being in the future.

Why dream of swimming in the sea?

Another of the pleasant visions is sea bathing, provided that the water is gentle and warm, and since in most cases people dream of a resort version of bathing, astrologers call such a dream a pleasant omen. Why dream of swimming in the sea? The interpretation also depends on the actions of the participants in the dreams:

  1. Seeing someone swimming - you can help a friend to cope with a difficult problem.
  2. To splash in the sea waves yourself - all plans are being implemented successfully, you can expect monetary profit.
  3. Swimming in a calm sea is a sign of speedy travels or important changes in fate.
  4. Cutting the waves into a storm is a romantic adventure.
  5. Swimming in the sea in a dream with someone - a faithful like-minded person will appear. For a girl to frolic in the waves with a man, she will soon enter into a spiritually compatible marriage.
  6. If in a dream you saw a lot of people bathing, you will be able to successfully apply your talents.

Why dream of drowning in the sea?

Drowning in the sea in a dream or seeing others drown is no less an unpleasant sight than in reality. Therefore, one should not expect positive omens here, but astrologers warn: we are not talking about imminent death, but about an important warning that plays a special role. So it is worth remembering carefully both the details of the dream and its plot. The dream interpretation "sea" gives the following interpretations:

  1. To see from the outside how you are drowning yourself is a big money hassle, large loans are not excluded.
  2. At work, you can expect an unscheduled "rush job".
  3. Drowning in troubled water, but swimming out at the last moment - to difficulties that will be overcome.
  4. If you threw a life preserver, you will have to go into debt, but your friends will help you pay off.
  5. If in a dream you dreamed of how they went to the bottom - to an accident or illness.

Why dream of the tide at sea?

Seeing the sea with waves in a dream - to hectic events in life, the higher the waves, the more difficult the chores will be. If the water is cloudy, gossip is indispensable, you should be careful in conversations with colleagues. If the waves are transparent, then routine problems will make themselves felt. And what does the sea mean in a dream at high tide: when water arrives, this is to the peak of luck in business, favorable new circumstances will appear. If the sea level rises quickly, with foam, it is worth waiting for emotional experiences, troubles are possible. The gentle, gentle tide promises a pleasant stay.

Why is a calm sea dreaming?

To dream of a calm sea is a good omen. Some astrologers explain this vision by the need to bring a little excitement and adrenaline into their lives. But most predictors agree that the sea surface without waves is a symbol of a happy life. Or evidence that a white streak will soon appear in business, business will go well. It is possible to receive long-awaited news. But to plunge into the water during a calm period already testifies to future changes in life.

What is the dream of a storm at sea?

A storm at sea for our ancestors was an alarming sign, in reality this phenomenon promised a lot of troubles for the inhabitants of coastal villages and those who were far from the coast. Therefore, decoding such a vision remains unpleasant. Why dream of the sea with waves:

  • to loss and failure in business;
  • to difficult tests;
  • to a serious illness - your own or those of your loved ones.

The interpretation also depends on the plot and sleep time:

  1. Seeing someone die during a storm is the death of relatives.
  2. If the waves with huge caps of foam - to deceiving hopes.
  3. A sea storm dreamed from Thursday to Friday - to sad news from afar, and from Friday to Saturday - to a quarrel with a friend.
  4. The dreamer is on the shore during a storm - evidence that troubles will be bypassed.
  5. The storm destroyed your home - to great trouble, moreover, friends are unlikely to be able to provide support and help.
  6. To see how a sea storm sinks a ship - to tangible monetary losses.

Why is the dried sea dreaming?

The dream interpretation of plots about the sea contains many different interpretations. If you look at sea water - to news from distant relatives, then look at the surf - to the expected solution of problems, which will happen by itself. It is extremely rare for people to dream of a dried-up sea; this is considered a very unfavorable sign. Astrologers agree on an omen that hard times await the dreamer, it is possible that in all spheres of life. Such a dream about the sea can portend financial difficulties, career collapse, and family problems. But if you heed this warning and take action, troubles can be avoided.
