TOURISTS ANSWERS:

If Lloret de Mar is the noisiest and most partying city Costa Brava, and Tossa de Mar is the quietest and most beautiful town on the coast, then Blanes is the most ancient city Costa Brava with all the ensuing consequences ... It is located 60 kilometers from Barcelona, and you can get there by a silent train. Of course, Barcelona is generally one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but first you need to look around in Blanes itself, and there is something to see.

Of course, it is the San Juan Castle that dominates the city's landscape. Although the settlement of Blanes itself was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, the main part of the buildings survived from the 12th-13th centuries, so this wonderful castle began to be built in the 11th century, and was built in the 13th century, and its watchtower , as if descended from the credits of the film "War of Thrones" - in the 16th .. It is best to look at this castle to appreciate its grandeur and grace of form, from an islet located right off the coast of Blanes. By the way, this is also a trademark of this remarkable place - a small island, as if specially created by nature for restless tourists, who are not fed with bread, but let them admire the panorama of the mountains and the castle San Juan on the top of the cliff that divides Blanes into 2 parts: north and south. Just in the southern part is the entire tourist infrastructure of the city, this is the most beautiful part of Blanes - with lush gardens, a wonderful pine Promenade, amazing beaches. In the northern part there is a port, which must also be seen once, but all the interesting and interesting life of Blanes is in its southern part ...

There are just beautiful beaches here. It makes no sense to talk about their environmental friendliness and the permanent blue flags of ecologists, since this is a very frequent phenomenon on the Costa Brava, but not to say that the three-kilometer main beach Blanes S'Abannel is a great place to relax with fantastic views of the cliffs, gentle sea and pleasant sand that slightly massages the feet ... children - the magnificent San Francesc beach, not only surrounded by Mediterranean pine trees and equipped with playgrounds, but also a rarity for the Costa Brava and Costa Maresme - a gentle descent into the water, which is so loved by the smallest tourists ... Therefore, of course, on an equal footing with the castle of San Juan, the main attraction of Blanes is its beautiful beaches, which have stood the test of time and many generations of tourists, because Blanes is one of the very first resorts on the Costa Brava.

I would like to encourage inquisitive tourists reading this material to search for medieval pearls scattered throughout old Blanes - and the castle of the Viscounts Cabrera (12th century), and the Gothic fountain (15th century), and the Gothic monastery, and the gate of the Virgin Mary ... Believe me, it is in Blanes that there is something to see in the city itself, along the old streets of which it is so pleasant to walk after a beach day ...

A tourist mini-train runs along Blanes, which for 14 euros will save you the need to walk a lot and show you the whole town in 1 hour. If you do not want to look for medieval sights yourself, a trip on this miracle of technology will solve this problem, just as it will take you to the Marimutra Botanical Garden with its splendor primarily of conifers. Visit this wonderful garden anyway!

Of the entertainment and nearby attractions, it is worth mentioning the boats that, for reasonable money (depending on the distance, 10-25 euros) will take you to both Lloret and Tossa, giving you the opportunity to admire the "Wild Coast" (this is how the Costa Brava is translated) with its bizarre indented rocks, the splendor of which is breathtaking ... It is impossible not to mention the "Marineland" - a large and interesting water park, located not far from Blanes in the almost neighboring Santa Susanna, from which children will be delighted ... Well, and so ... in front of you, in addition to ancient Blanes - this wonderful Mediterranean town - the whole of Catalonia is open. Barcelona and Gerona, Figueiras and Lloret are all within easy reach from this wonderful place ...

Botanical Garden Marimutra

Once in Spain in Blanes, all tourists flock to the Mar i Murtra Botanical Garden to get their share of aesthetic pleasure. And it is no coincidence. This beautiful, stunning walking area is located in the northern part of the resort. The garden contains a huge collection of all kinds of plants. Among them are cacti, conifers, cypresses, exotic specimens, plants from different climatic zones. The territory is neat, it is clear that the workers take care of it with love. Gazebos, walking peacocks, ponds with blooming lilies and lotuses are just a small part of what you can see there. On a hot day, the Marimutra Botanical Garden will become a saving refuge from the heat, where you can comfortably sit in the shade and admire the extraordinary views of the sea and rocks. A visit to Marimutra will also be interesting for naturalist photographers. Unique types of flowers captured in macro mode will become invaluable photographs.

Get to Botanical Garden you can walk or take a bus that departs from the center of Blanes. The park is closed on Mondays. Travel by bus and entrance ticket paid (5 and 6 euros). I do not recommend going on foot for the elderly or vacationers with small children: you will have to go up the hill for about 25 minutes, not everyone is easy. The advantage of walking will be the opportunity to see beautiful panoramic views of the city of Blanes, opening up as the slope rises. In order not to get lost and easily navigate the labyrinths of the Botanical Garden, do not forget to take the park map at the entrance.

San Juan Castle

The ancient castle of San Juan remains the invariable symbol of Blanes. It began its history back in the 13th century, when it was erected on the site of an ancient Roman fortress. For a long time, the castle of San Juan was the personification of the reliability and protection of the city from the attacks of ill-wishers. Over the centuries, the castle was destroyed and rebuilt several times, but this did not prevent it from obtaining the status of a national monument and becoming an obligatory point in excursion route tourists. San Juan is located on a mountain at an altitude of more than 170 meters, offering unforgettable views of the surroundings (the coast is especially beautiful in the light of night lights in the evening). To date, a city historical museum has been created on the territory.

Chapel of St. Barbara

St. Barbara was the patroness of the city of Blanes. The chapel in her honor is located next to the castle of San Juan, and is rightfully considered one of the main attractions of the resort town. At first it was the watchtower of the castle, but over time it was rebuilt into a chapel, the bell of which announced local population about the possible danger. The road from the center of Blanes to the castle and the chapel takes no more than 20 minutes and pleases the eye with picturesque sea views.
