It is no secret that the lion's share of vacationers travels to Cyprus precisely because of its amazing beaches. No, there is, of course, a separate share of crazy people who prioritize fierce parties until the morning or exploring local vineyards, but still the words "Cyprus" and "beaches" go hand in hand, giving tourists the long-awaited touch of sea, sun and sand.

So what you need to know about the coast of this sunny hospitable country? Firstly, all beaches in Cyprus are very different: before booking a hotel in a particular resort, make sure that due to the abundance of foam parties, you can even see the sand under your feet. Secondly, all local beaches- municipal, that is, free. Despite the fact that sun loungers and umbrellas are offered almost everywhere for a fee, here you can at any time spread your towel side by side and sunbathe without worrying about the consequences - they will not be (well, not counting the possibility of getting sunburned).

They say that the most beautiful beaches Cyprus is Protaras and Ayia Napa, but in fact, each tourist has his own preferences, so it is better to familiarize yourself with the available set of coasts of the island in advance.

Protaras is ideal for family holidays, there is a beautiful yellow shell sand with a shallow sea. Ayia Napa is a party resort with lots of bars and clubs, and beach parties start in the morning. Larnaca is considered the most budgetary and quiet resort in Cyprus with wide sandy beaches and a gentle entrance to the water. The sea here is even warmer than in Protaras, but in the season when the heat rolls over, this fact can be considered rather a disadvantage - it is hardly possible to refresh yourself in such water. The sand has a grayish tint, which is why the sea cannot boast of that luxurious turquoise shade that Protaras. But here is the main airport of the country, so the transfer will be short-lived. Main resort Cyprus is, perhaps, Limassol. There are a lot of hotels and restaurants here, but the beaches are not as picturesque as, for example, in Larnaca.

There are a couple of beaches on the island of Aphrodite that do not adjoin popular resorts, but to mention about which it is simply necessary. In particular, this is the crystal blue Coral Bay in Paphos or Nissi Beach near Ayia Napa. The latter is famous for its picturesque island located right in the middle of the coast, which can be easily reached by wading through a shallow strait.

The "trick" of the Mackenzie beach is the Larnaca airport located literally a hundred meters away. Every day only a madman can come here, but to visit once to enjoy the view of the planes landing directly above you is definitely worth it! Another incredibly beautiful place is Governor's Beach, which is 20 km east of Limassol. In the range: an alien landscape of miniature black sand beaches, which are separated by cliffs of white stone.

Particular attention should be paid to Ladies Mile - the largest beach in the country. Clear water, warm sea, no breakwaters and lots of cozy taverns with quite affordable prices - what more could you want?

Of course, it is worth visiting the place where Aphrodite emerged from the foam of the sea - the beach of Petra Tu Romiou. Today, no one can say whether the goddess came out or not, but it is definitely worth taking a walk on that very foam and rubbing your heels on local stones. Swimming here, alas, will not work - the sea is not safe here.

Nearby is the absolutely incomparable Shipwreck Beach, which is difficult but necessary to get to. Soft sand, warm shallow lagoon, bizarre rock formations and the main "hit" - the skeleton of a ship that has run aground a long time ago.

And finally, one cannot fail to mention the Curium beach, which is near the village of Episkopi, the "mecca" of kite and windsurfers, as well as Lara - the most "turtle" beach in Cyprus. It is located north of Paphos, in an area that can only be reached by 4WD jeep. This truly protected corner of the Mediterranean is full of turtle nests, and its coastal caves hide the rare white-bellied seal.

Cyprus is one of the best islands Mediterranean Sea for recreation, both adults and children. But many tourists who are going with children to the resorts of the island ask tour operators to advise where in Cyprus are sandy nice beaches with white sand that will fully meet your requirements. What budget sandy beaches are most suitable for people with an average income?

The best beaches in Ayia Napa

  • I would like to note right away that the best beaches of Cyprus with white sand are located in Ayia Napa and one of these is Nissi... During the day, adults and children swim and sunbathe here, and in the evening the beach turns into a dance floor and most tourists stay here all night. Along the entire embankment, there are bars and restaurants in which foam parties are held, various competitions are held, and some of them begin in the afternoon. On the Nissi beach you can meet people of all ages and everyone finds entertainment to their liking.

For young children, the conditions here are just perfect. Here comfortable gentle descent into the sea, white clean sand and warm sea... Nearby there is a pier where motor boats with "bananas", which children can ride with their parents. By noon, the beach is completely filled with vacationers, so if you want to be alone, it is better to come here in the morning, when most of the tourists are still having breakfast. There are 3.4 and 5 star hotels.

But it must also be said that almost all areas of the beach are paid, so you have to buy a ticket in order to use the sun loungers and umbrellas.

  • There is a beach near the port Grishn Bay, which is perfect for families with children, as there is not so much entertainment as on Nissi Beach. it big beach, where you can comfortably sit under an umbrella, and in order to swim there is no need to go knee-deep in water for a long time. Despite the proximity of the city, this beach has everything you need for a comfortable children's recreation... But young people will be bored here, since there are no noisy parties, foam parties and famous DJs here.
  • The beach is located on the shores of Cape Greco and is specially designed for a quiet and quiet rest, both adults and children. It is not suitable for youth recreation, as there are no noisy bars and restaurants. Here you can go diving, windsurfing, water skiing, motor boats, scooters.

The best beaches in Protaras

Paphos beaches

I would like to note that the beaches of Limassol are not as picturesque as in other resorts, so they are of little use for children.

The beaches of the northern region of Cyprus

Regions of northern Cyprus can offer vacationers private, public, equipped, hotel and wild beaches. The entrance to the equipped beaches is about 3 euros. There are umbrellas, sun loungers, toilets and showers. But there is also free beaches and one of them is Alagadi, where turtles lay their eggs in the summer and they can be shown to their children, who will be very interested in looking at such exotic things. Most of the beaches are sandy, but sometimes the seabed turns into pebbles, so you need to be very careful, especially for kids. The most popular beaches in northern Cyprus are Acapulco, Camelot Beach, Deniz Kizi and Escape.

Trips

It is not surprising that a huge number of tourists come here. It should be noted that the tourism industry in Cyprus is the main source of income for the island... Most of the population works in this sector.

Over the past few years, the number of tourists has increased by almost 30% and income by 40%.

Cyprus has several large resorts... Among them: Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol, Ayia Napa and Protaras.

Most of the beaches of the Republic of Cyprus are municipal, and there is a separate fee for the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas.

Where are the best beaches in Cyprus: Paphos city

Stone of Aphrodite (Petra tou Romiou)

The beach near the Rock of Aphrodite's Stone boasts the purest water and the surrounding rocks.

The beach itself consists of pebbles and sea pebbles, which gives it an unusual color - a mixture of orange, pink and red. Some believe that Aphrodite's stone is a distant rock, others believe that it is a dark stone that stands approximately in the middle of the beach.

The beach is located between Paphos and Limassol. You can easily find it if you pay attention to the pointers that say "Petra-tu-Romiu"... On the way to the beach, there are wonderful views of nature and the coast.

Fig Tree Bay Beach

The small resort village of Protaras is located in the southeastern part of the island of Cyprus. It became famous for its clean beaches and ideal conditions for families with children.

Fig Tree Bay Beach is the best in Protaras and therefore the most popular. This place is visited not only by tourists, but also locals.

You can come here with small children, as the beach has gentle descent into the sea... Light sand, clean beach and clear sea water make your stay on this beach unforgettable.

It is worth noting that the beach was named so because of ancient fig grove located nearby. The embankment in Fig Tree Bay is very picturesque - it blooms in spring.

Flamingo Beach

Like most beaches in Protaras, this one is made for families. "Flamingo" - central beach resort town. It is nice here developed infrastructure and a large number of entertainment.

Sirena Bay Beach

This beach is quite small, but on its territory there is a restaurant with a magnificent view of the sea, natural green roof and wooden tables where you can taste traditional Cypriot cuisine.

Sirena Bay is located along the road separating Agia Triada and Pernera.

Finding this place is not easy and, as a rule, they know about him by rumors rather than travel agencies. But once you get there, you won't want to leave this place.

Konnos Bay Beach

Also on Protaras you can find another beach, which is unlikely to be suitable for a family vacation. It is very rare in such places to find wild beaches, where there are no conveniences we are used to.

But if you want to relax in an uncrowded quiet place, then welcome to Konnos Bay beach, which is located in a bay 2 km east of the center of Protaras. This beach is located between Protaras and Ayia Napa, and there is hill adorned with greenery.

In places the coast, sheltered golden sand, becomes rocky. The water here is clear and the depth is decent- so diving enthusiasts will appreciate it.

Nearby is national park Cavo Greco wherever you can go on an excursion by agreeing directly on the beach. Since this is considered a protected area, the cleanliness of the beach is carefully monitored. No wonder he was even awarded "Blue Flag"(international award for clean sea water, beach and infrastructure).

You can get here by car or public transport, and the entrance is free.

Beautiful beaches of Cyprus: Limassol city

Paramali Beach

Like the previous beach, Paramali is little known. However, it is very beautiful secluded beach next to tangerine and lemon gardens.

You can often see here windsurfers and kiters... There are also two mobile schools on site.

Simply put, it is a place for extreme lovers as strong winds blow and rise big waves.

Curium Beach

In the center of the beach is the Chris Blue Bech Cafe restaurant, around which the entire infrastructure of the beach is built. There is 2 large unpaved parking lots with big amount places, and next to the restaurant there is a small asphalt parking.

In this place, winds often blow, creating waves, which, at times, can reach the front line of the sun loungers and then flood them a little.

Because the coastal part is shallow, children can safely swim in the warm sea. Adult depth begins only after 30 meters. There is plenty of room for everyone, even during peak season.

The sand here is very pleasant and the children will love to play in it, which means you should take your shovels, a bucket and other suitable toys with you.

Where are the sandy beaches in Cyprus: the resort town of Ayia Napa

Sandy beaches of Cyprus

The spacious sandy shores of the resorts of Cyprus remain the center of attraction for tourists who come to the island during the high season - from May to September.

The sand on the Cypriot Mediterranean coast differs not only in different regions, but also within individual resorts. Comfortable natural beaches with grayish and dense volcanic sand (for example, in Limassol and Larnaca) and mixed sand and pebble areas (including in Paphos) are widespread. Less often you can find municipal beaches with fine white or golden sand (in Ayia Napa, some in Protaras, Paphos, other resorts), wild beach strips with golden gray sand (Northern Cyprus and the coast a few kilometers from tourist cities).

Traditionally, the beaches with fine sand equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas are considered the most comfortable for relaxation. Basically, these beaches are loose, located within walking distance from the centers of large resorts.

Most of the sandy and some sandy-pebble beaches of Cyprus have been awarded the prestigious international Blue Flag award, which confirms the purity of the water and the safety of the coast for vacationers.

The best beaches in Cyprus

Cyprus white sand beaches

The bulk of Cypriot white sand beaches are concentrated on the Ayia Napa and Protaras coastlines. Such sites have a resort infrastructure and a smooth entrance into the water, therefore, they are especially attractive for tourists with children.

Three of them have been awarded the prestigious "Blue Flag": the famous Finikoudes beach near the central promenade, Kastela beach - the most convenient for children, and McKenzie - the famous beach coast overlooking low flying planes.

North Cyprus beaches

On the northern coast of Cyprus, in the Turkish part of the island, you can relax on sandy and sandy-pebble beaches, while among them there are several places of worship, which are definitely worth a visit for the sake of fantastic landscapes.

One of the main attractions of the beach is a line of sandstone cliffs, cut by the wind and surprising with their bizarre shapes.
