Lures for winter fishing: choosing a lure for fishing in winter

Ice fishing lures- these are metal plates with an elongated shape, with a variety of equipment. By changing the shape, size ratio, thickness, location of the center of gravity, color, suspension on the line, equipment with hooks and additional elements, a very large variety of winter lures is achieved.

Fishing lures

The manufacture of lures for winter fishing is made from various metal materials, as a rule, from colored ones. Light-colored baubles are made from tin, as well as nickel and silver, dark ones - from copper, from brass alloys - light yellowish, there are also combined baubles that are white on one side, and yellowish on the opposite side. The lure has a tee with one or two hooks. As a rule, perfectly polished baubles with an even yellowish sheen are used for fishing.

Types of lures for ice fishing

Ice fishing lures can be divided into two large classes.

  • lures with vertical suspension on the line;
  • catchy winter spinners with horizontal suspension, or balancers.

Lures for winter fishing are fundamentally different from the summer way of playing. Lures for winter fishing are usually made narrower than summer ones.

The simplest spoon can use a symmetrical plate made of metal with a simple or complex bend. Changing the bend will also change the speed and angle of incidence. Lightweight gliders are equipped with a single welded hook, as hanging tees greatly change the game and make it uncontrollable. Fishing with these spinners is quite difficult. You need to have some experience, strictly choose not only the technique of the game, but also, depending on the depth, the thickness of the line

Homemade baubles

Such spinners can be conditionally divided into two kinds:

  • lures with a strict hook fastening;
  • articulated nozzles.

One can argue for a long time which of them is better. Each type of bait has its own characteristics, both in application and in animation methods.

All homemade ice fishing lures have a different play, even when they are made with the same pattern. It is best to set up bait games at home, in the bathroom.

With the help of a needle file and pliers, you can achieve the desired game. Then place the adjusted bait separately, rather than keeping all the baits together.

Winter lures, thanks to the soldering of lead or other metal, change their center of gravity down, closer to the hook. The configuration of the spinner's petal, its weight and the location of the center of gravity are selected so that the spinner, plunging, goes vertically to the side - it is planning. When the spoon during the fall repeats the same movements, then this spoon should be recognized as "working". When the bait with each fall, as well as planning, behaves differently, or "goes into a tailspin", then there is no question of catch.

Different types of lures

Pike lures

For pike fishing, as a rule, they use relatively wide, gliding, leisurely sinking spoons. The game should be extremely monotonous. Among the spoons for pike there are also spoons, in which the center of gravity is not in the lower region, but in the upper one. Although such "pike" spinners play completely differently from the above "perch" ones. A pike lure with a center of gravity at the top, when twitching upwards, makes a diving movement into the swing area. After the upward swing, this lure moves by inertia and then goes into planning. These lures are equipped with hanging tees.

I want to warn novice fishermen right away that it is difficult, but possible, to catch a pike with a vertical spoon in a pond, where there are relatively few of these fish. For successful fishing, it is necessary not only to have good spinners and be able to handle them, but also to please this spinner pike literally under the nose when it goes hunting. A pike with a spoon is most likely to be caught in a small river, where it is easier to calculate the point of its stay. You have to catch pike perch sometimes in a relatively intense current, and this is only possible with a heavy spoon.

Crochet bait equipment

In addition to the very shape of the spoon, it is essential. Usually lightweight lures are supplied with large single hooks welded in. The advantages of such lures are obvious: during the dive, the hook does not fold back onto the body of the lure, but constantly “looks” upward, which is very important for effective hooking and stable planning. However, such spinners often "knock" perch, but not undercut. As a result, many spinners are made with double and often triple welded hooks.

They are not bad when you are fishing in a point where there are few bushes and driftwood at the bottom. Such spinners are not intended for pulling along the bottom. It should also be noted that most zander lures are supplied with soldered hooks.

Heavy and large lures for pike and perch are much more often equipped with hanging hooks. As a rule, it is a small tee on a winding ring. When the perch is sleepy, which happens not only at the beginning of winter, but also during bad weather conditions, it is effective to use spinners with a single hanging hook. It makes no sense to equip the hooks with some kind of red wool for the sake of attracting the attention of the fish. Wool must be used to modify the game spinner. A large bundle of wool on the hook slows down the movement of the spoon in the water, sometimes it is very useful, and sometimes it is not. Although in any case, additional components on the hook, such as hairs or beads, as well as perch's eye or bloodworms, should be used with extreme caution.

Conclusion

Spoons have proven themselves quite well, which combine components and "devil" and spoons in their device. This combination turned out to be extremely successful. Instead of a tee, a light "devil" hooks onto the spoon. The petal is preferable narrow than wide. Color doesn't matter much, although I like yellow because it is more important to choose the correct size of the spoon and the size of the tee.
