Pike fishing with Croatian egg

There are several varieties of surface lures. All of them are united by the main property - the ability to be on the surface. The Croatian egg can be safely attributed to this category of bait.

The official name of this bait is Bumble Lure, and it is produced in Croatia by Branimir Kalinic. After the bass tournament held in Croatia, the unofficial name - “Croatian egg” - was stuck with the official name. At the end of this tournament, Russian athletes brought the first copies of the world famous bait.

Since the bait is intended for bass fishing, its strength is minimal and rather doubtful for pike fishing. The original version of the bait is made of balsa, so the predator can easily bite through it. After some time, after using the "Croatian egg" for pike fishing, a beautiful bait turns into a very unattractive object for fish.

If we talk about pike fishing, then the Croatian egg can be very effective when used in areas overgrown with algae. As far as we know, there are other types of baits that can be successfully used in such conditions, but "", in this case, has no competitor. Considering the fact that this bait can be used in the case of surface wiring, then its use can be justified only in a warm period. Where no bait can be carried out, the "Croatian egg" will cope with its task. These can be bodies of water, where aquatic vegetation practically covers the clear surface of the water. At present, most of the lakes and ponds can be attributed to such reservoirs.

Correct wiring

You can use the "Croatian egg" by applying the following posting options:

  • wiring with small jerks is one of the main ones. Harness, similar to walker harness, but the range of motion is slightly reduced;
  • the usual uniform wiring is also not excluded. The speed of such wiring depends on the presence of vegetation, or rather, on its density. The design of the bait is such that the percentage of empty bites is large enough and this should always be remembered;
  • Stop & Go wiring is quite effective, but not always applicable due to the presence of aquatic vegetation. In this case, you need to decide, based on the conditions, in which places you should make the next stop.

Sometimes the pike can be seen from afar as the "Croatian egg" is walking along the surface. Having discovered that the pike is chasing the bait, you should not make rash movements, but continue to carry it at the same pace. If you stop or change direction or speed, the pike can also stop or turn around. There are times when the pike begins to attack, and there is nowhere to lead the bait. In this case, you should stop and make a few light jerks forward. It is possible that the pike will not refuse to attack.

Unfortunately, this type of bait directly by spinning players or individual craftsmen. This suggests that you cannot buy it in the store, and if you can buy it, then only certain models of the well-known company Aiko. It is not hard to imagine how much the original "Croatian egg" costs. Therefore, many spinningists follow the path of making homemade copies. As life shows, many homemade copies are no worse than the original ones, especially since the masters use materials that the pike cannot bite through.

Some models of these lures are made of plastic. Moreover, despite the fame of the company, such baits have problems with balancing, so they are inferior to the original in quality.

In this bait, it is very important that the structure is balanced, otherwise an attractive game will not work. Too large a load can affect its non-engaging properties, and a small load will not be able to convey all the movements controlled by the angler, that is, it will not make it possible to feel the lure.

The use of certain baits requires a certain approach and skill. Therefore, first you need to practice near some reservoir and only then proceed to practical actions. This question is especially relevant when fishing is carried out on an overgrown body of water, when the likelihood of losing the bait is high enough.
