Homemade chainsaw snowmobile

The chainsaw is an indispensable tool for construction and logging, in gardening and farming. Moreover, it is not at all necessary to use the unit for its intended purpose (for felling wood and preparing firewood). In the right hands, an ordinary chain saw can even turn into a comfortable snow scooter.

And a snowmobile from a chainsaw with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems to an uninformed consumer. The manufacturing scheme is quite simple, the main thing is to stock up on the necessary spare parts and patience.

Assembling a homemade snowmobile

In harsh winters and snow drifts, a snowmobile may be the only vehicle available. However, not everyone can buy a much-needed unit. A snow scooter with a chainsaw motor will allow you to avoid significant financial costs. Often, such vehicles are not inferior to factory models in terms of power and speed.

On the Internet there are many schemes for making snowmobiles based on chainsaws of different capacities. Therefore, any available parts can be used to assemble the vehicle. This should:

  • prepare and carefully work out the drawings of the future device with all the necessary components and assemblies;
  • the choice of the basic model of the chainsaw (It can be Ural. Husqvarna or Druzhba. The main thing is to choose the optimal power tool for gasoline-powered tools that allows you to accurately implement the idea);
  • make a frame for a future snow scooter (a frame with two beams and racks can be welded from ordinary steel corners, bent steel sheets);
  • make the technological holes required for the shaft and the gear transmission of the tracks;
  • mount the fuel tank and power unit of the base chainsaw;
  • then you need to install the steering, transmission;
  • it is also important to install and check the brake system, on which the safety of future transport directly depends;
  • position the track rollers on 5 axles and install the tracks.

It is not necessary to assemble the tracked mechanism yourself. Tracks from an old Buran or other affordable crawler tractor will do. And for a compact snow scooter, you can even use ordinary skis.
